Washington, DC – AAJ The American Tort Reform Association’s “judicial hellholes” is an early holiday present for its tobacco and insurance financers. The recycled annual report, widely debunked and ridiculed in past years, is funded by negligent corporations and industries to undermine the civil justice system and the rights of everyday Americans.
“This report is another reminder of how corporations use front groups like ATRA to undermine the civil justice system,” said American Association for Justice (AAJ) CEO Jon Haber. “ATRA’s drug, tobacco, and insurance financers spend millions on junk reports so they can continue their negligent behavior and avoid accountability.”

One in Three Children's Toys Tested Found to have Significant Levels of Toxic Chemicals |

 Ann Arbor, MI -- Healthytoys.org - The Ecology Center, a
Michigan-based nonprofit organization, and partners across the country
today released the 2nd annual consumer guide to toxic chemicals in toys
at www.HealthyToys.org.
Researchers tested over 1,500 popular children's toys for lead,
cadmium, arsenic, PVC and other harmful chemicals in time for this
year's holiday shopping season. One in three toys tested were found to
contain "medium" or "high" levels of chemicals of concern.

AAJ Warns of Additional Regulations That Could Limit Consumers’ RightsWashington, DC – AAJ - Confirming American Association for Justice’s (AAJ) concern about midnight regulations, the Bush Administration rammed through a final rule that could give railroad corporations complete immunity from lawsuits.
In a rule that should have enhanced the safety of passengers and others impacted by railways, the Transportations Safety Administration (TSA) inserted boilerplate preemption language which instead attempts to limit the ability of states to protect their residents.

Preemption Clause Would Grant Blanket Immunity from Lawsuits |

Washington, DC - AAJ –The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s (NHTSA) new rule on school bus safety is “hypocritical,” requiring one thing for safety on small school buses, recommending another for large school buses, and then granting blanket immunity from civil justice should any injuries arise, according to the American Association for Justice (AAJ).
“NHTSA’s hypocrisy flies in the face of safety,” said AAJ President Les Weisbrod.
